This article covers embedding a LotWorks map in your public website. It assumes you have already imported your new lots into your LotWorks system.
Requesting a Map
If you already have a community in LotWorks, and need a public website map, the process is very straight-forward:
- Open a ticket with the LotWorks Support Team (help@lotworks.ca).
- Provide the Community Name.
- (Optional) Confirm public lot status colours and naming requirements.
The typical turnaround time is 3 - 5 days. Please let us know if the map is urgently required.
Embedding in your Website
Blueprint will provide you with a secure HTTPS URL that represents a public link to your map.
Make sure both your website and the embedded map are served over secure (HTTPS) connections. If your site isn’t using HTTPS, contact your web host or IT provider to enable it before implementing the map.
When embedding the LotWorks public website map via <iframe>, you must serve the parent page over HTTPS. Modern browsers enforce strict mixed content policies, so if your website is served over HTTP and the iframe content is HTTPS, or vice versa, the map may not load correctly or at all. This can result in a blank map, console errors, or broken user interaction.
Place it in an <iframe> inside a styled wrapper. A simple example is provided below:
NOTE: Use external CSS for sizing - never inline styles.
Our LotWorks Maps Embed API documentation, which covers advanced embed options as well as interacting with your map using Javascript, is available upon request.
Best-Practice Checklist
There are a few things we recommend when embedding a public map so your buyers have the best experience possible on both desktop browsers and mobile devices.
| Do | Avoid |
|---|---|
| Use a responsive container with a visible height | Loading the map in a hidden 0 px div |
| Make it full-width on all breakpoints | Gutters or scrollbars that shrink the map |
| Offer a “View Full Size” link on tight layouts | Overlays that block clicks |

Troubleshooting
Some of the more common errors on the public website maps can be found below:
Map Not Loading
Browsers can sometimes get in funny states or cause malfunctions. If you are experiencing a strange error, or content not updating, we suggest refreshing your browser. A “hard refresh” command only takes a second, is harmless, and often clears up any problems.
- Ensure the embed page is HTTPS - maps are served securely only.
- Avoid loading the iframe in a hidden 0px div.
- Confirm Phase Visibility.
Map Does Not Exist
If you're seeing a generic “Map Does Not Exist” message when trying to load the LotWorks public website map, it typically means the map hasn't been set up yet. This can happen for a few reasons:
The map was never requested by the builder or developer,
The map was disabled, often because the community is at or near end-of-life
There may be a delay in setup, especially if it’s a new or recently launched community
If you believe this message is in error, reach out to your internal team or contact the LotWorks Support Team to confirm the map’s status.
